BLACK MOUNTAINS

I've wanted to create a series based on just the light and shadows of a mountain face for a long time. One day, I decided to give myself a real challenge, and opted to only use the color black - which is the end of all color, it literally sucks in all of the light. How do you create form with black? How do you show depth? How do you show roughness and smoothness?
